We are in great need of new brushes, markers, paint, paper, colored pencils, just basic art materials for my students. Also, because of the large population of children with special needs that require adaptive art tools, purchasing these items far exceed my yearly art budget. One of the most beautiful anecdotes I can recall, is a young lady that enjoys coloring and drawing who is in 5th grade and also in Art Club! She has Sickle Cell Anemia which is a blood disease that attacks your red blood cells. It cause you to have a lot of pain in the lower back but the pain can spread to anywhere in the body. She just recently had a bone marrow transplant in May of 2017. She inspires me on a daily basis, in that, even though she is recovering slowly, she perseveres in the face of a long recovery and helps other students make their art and is a pure ray of sunshine in my art room.
