With these high-interest novels that address racial justice & equity, flexible seats, hands-on math materials, quick revising activities, and MakerSpace tools, we'll turn mundane in-person seat work into innovative and engaging group work. This will be a refreshing change after a year of remote learning from home. Young architects will use acrylic tiles to build floor plans for STEM projects incorporating math skills, book groups will have new, diverse, high-quality books, and students needing help in math and writing will have engaging, hands-on materials to build their knowledge and create a lasting understanding of complex concepts.
When students need extra support or practice, they'll now have colorful, engaging, and hands-on materials to help them grasp tough concepts without always having to rely on paper and pencil. They'll have more flexible seating options and innovative projects to look forward to on MakerSpace Mondays, including long-term projects involving blueprints & biomes with model trees and see-through walls. Students missed out on so much quality in-person instruction, group work, and hands-on learning last year due to virtual lessons, so it's time to build knowledge in a more engaging and interactive classroom environment. Stamina for writing on paper dropped with virtual learning, so the writing materials in this project will focus on the revising process to help their writing truly shine!
