As a first year teacher, one focus of mine will be organization. With roughly 130 students coming through the door each day it is crucial to have clear structures in place for distributing, collecting and organizing student work and activities. These materials will help me maintain an organized space for papers (trays for classwork, hanging file organizer for packets, boxes for student portfolios), hands on activities (trays, caddies, bins) and for materials (cabinet for pens/pencils, sticky notes, paper clips, etc.). With these structures in place to organize our work and materials, students and myself will be able to focus on learning in an environment that is organized for inquiry.
