I teach 7th grade science at an urban middle school. As scholars, my students take pride in themselves, our school team and family, and the challenging academic curriculum my school offers. As a school community, we promise all of our students that we will be with them to and through college. Beyond educating my students for the time they are in my classroom, I commit to being a mentor and partner to them throughout the rest of their education, as I strongly believe that kind of long-term support is essential for their success. For many of my students, there are significant obstacles that lie ahead of them on that road. Over 95% of our students are eligible for free or reduced-rate lunches, and many bring a lot of difficult experiences with them into school each morning. Still, all of my students are capable of achieving the biggest goal they set themselves towards. I need your help to help them achieve it.
