Currently, I work in a K-8 School that is fully inclusive. I service students from grades 5 through 8; a majority of whom are currently on Individual Education Programs (IEPs). The needs of the students range from having a Specific Learning Disability to multiple Intellectual Impairments; diagnoses include Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities such as Down Syndrome. All students receive direct instruction in the inclusion setting. They are a diverse group of students who are eager to learn, but at times the lack of appropriate equipment makes it a more difficult and challenging task.
About my class
