Currently my students are unequipped to learn because they lack a wide variety of resources necessary to learn in a project-based classroom. Students thrive when they are able to express their creativity, in Social Studies, in a number of different modalities. Unfortunately, the primary resource in our classroom is our textbook that portrays a one-sided view of history. I would like to change that by incorporating more hands on learning opportunities in our classroom, which will allow students to express themselves in creative ways.
By adding these hands on resources, it will allow students to experience history first-hand, instead of through the lens of a textbook. Students will be able to experience history and think critically before drawing their own conclusions. These materials will not only create a more exciting learning environment, but will also engage more students in learning.
