My students are full of energy and excited to take pictures! Photography is one of the reasons many students choose to join Journalism/Yearbook class, but that excitement is often dampened when they are handed a small, limited, digital camera meant more for posed, static shots than the candid, action shots we want to take. The cameras on their phones are better than our current cameras, but not nearly as good as a high quality camera and lens. They can channel the skills they've nurtured with Instagram and other photo apps on their phones and really hone those abilities to professional standards. My students would learn about the discipline and patience it takes to capture photos that illustrate the stories of their classmates. Our overarching goal will be to use this camera and lens to help us tell the stories of all students at Pacific, especially those that might normally be overlooked of go untold.
