Most of my students come from low-income backgrounds and have faced many challenges throughout their lives. Despite this, they commute to school everyday (some for hours) to work hard and build a better future for themselves. In fact, almost all of our students attend college, many receive full-ride scholarships, and several have even made it to the ivy leagues. Learning occurs despite being in a school that does not have all the resources that it needs.
