The materials requested would have a significant impact on student learning and quality of life on campus. Student hunger is a rampant issue on campus, even with free lunch offerings. After school activates, such as Speech and Debate spend countless hours of practice time, with very little availability to healthy, affordable meals.
Having items like a mini fridge would allow me to stock up on healthy foods for my students who constantly face food shortages at home, or get hungry throughout the day. Supplemental purchases such as the ramen and "healthy snack pack" would also benefit my classes, who may need a quick snack that is individually wrapped for health and safety concerns.
The water filter would be a great addition as COVID has limited students ability to use public water fountains. Having a refillable water pitcher would allow me to keep my students hydrated throughout the day.
Lastly, the two speech books would be a valuable resource for students looking to branch out to different performance styles in the pursuit of perfecting their acting techniques.
