Most of my students come from turbulent, low-income urban communities and face many difficult challenges. Yet they are all destined for greatness! My students have signed our Commitment to Excellence, pledging that they will work hard all day, every day to go to college and have a successful future. Everyday, we work with a great sense of urgency to make sure our kids are on track to go to great high schools and universities. My students and their families have chosen to attend a free college preparatory charter school, and with this decision comes great responsibility--to go to school almost 9 hours every day plus some Saturdays, to complete hours of homework every night, and to always demonstrate our school values of positivity, integrity, tenacity, initiative, responsibility, and excellence. They are young, creative minds who work incredibly hard to do great things in life.
