We are a public charter school in Illinois. Our primary school just started this August with 100 kindergarten students, many of whom have not attended pre-k or head start. At the beginning of the year, our kids, 88% of whom live in poverty, know only a handful of literacy skills. Through a lot of hard work, our students grow their brains and transform into readers by first grade!
