Our school finds itself in a hard working, lower socioeconomic, major urban district. My eight, nine, and ten year olds have a variety of talents. We have non-English speakers all the way up to students reading one and a half years above grade level. Our Special Education students are by far the hardest working students in our class. Our parents are supportive and grateful for the effort we make at our grade level to offer many extras to our students. We do not settle for just the ordinary routines of the Language Arts and Math Instructional Blocks. We go above and beyond with curricular field trips, music, art volunteers, and invited guest speakers. Our faculty continues to improve their practice by incorporating new thinking around implementing the Common Core State Standards. We get the best from our students because they know we value them. Together we are preparing for our future.
