I am a second year teacher at Hoover High School, an inner-city school that serves a highly diverse population of over 2,000 students. Over 90% of Hoover students qualify for free/reduced lunch, and many of the students I teach will be the first in their families to graduate from high school--nearly all will be the first to go to college. Teachers here recognize the need to give our students a rigorous, hands-on learning experience that they can take with them for the rest of their lives.
