I teach in a predominately minority schools where many of my students have not been out of the state of Arkansas, or even Hope. The opportunity to go to Dallas and compete in a national tournament will allow my students to see a better representation of the nation they live in and showcase their talents. I want my students to have the experience to not only compete, but see a world that they can connect to and bridge the unknown. Speech and debate helps students critically think about the world they live in and to clearly communicate ideas and thoughts. I am requesting funds for food costs for my students at the tournament. This trip will allow my students to see life through a different lens than what they are used to.
