I work at a high-poverty elementary school in California's Central Coast. I currently have 28 book-devouring 4th graders, anxiously waiting to read the next exciting adventure.
95% of my students are second language learners who have really benefited from reading and studying books like Holes, Maniac Magee, Bunnicula or Andrew Clements's The Landry News. These are kids who, at the beginning of the year, did not have a love for reading. Things have changed this year, and you could help me make sure they stay this way for many years to come.
