With libraries closed and distance learning being new the norm, my students are not reading enough, and most of my students just don't have books at home. Most importantly they are simply not reading for fun. For young readers, it is essential that they develop their reading, and the best way to do so is to read books that they find interesting. Unfortunately, access to interesting books for the majority of my students are unavailable right now. Additionally, there is nothing like having a real tangible book in your hand using your sense of touch and smell to accompany decoding the message. It's important that kids find the love of reading and I have found that it makes a difference for young readers to find that love through a real book. With your help, I will distribute interesting books to each of my students that will support their learning in a way that is fun and exciting.
