I facilitate an eighth grade Project Based Strategies class at a Title I school where 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students learn how to be a safe and responsible digital citizen early in the curriculum. Microsoft Office skills are honed by utilizing them to complete projects such a building a Jeopardy style study game from scratch in PowerPoint. Last year's election provided an opportunity to chart and analyze popular and electoral votes in Excel. Also, my students participate in the Hour of Code each year and complete various other projects using the Scratch programming language. This year we are initiating a Robotics component to the curriculum to offer students a more concrete and hands-on way to experience the results of their coding efforts.
