Having interactive, fun, and engaging materials is important in any classroom. It is especially important in mine. My students have a lot on their minds, from home struggles to mental health struggles, so engaging them and showing them that school is worth their focus is imperative. The items I have requested will help me to engage them and also create a safe space for them to learn.
Engagement in activities is a proven way to decrease behaviors. Board games, playdough mats, interactive charts, interactive calendar (and a stand to hold them), and puzzles to build number sense are all things that will help me grow love of learning in my students. Sand trays, light covers, and wikki stix are great ways to increase engagement and also integrate different sensory inputs for the kids.
