Relationships are an important part of building a positive learning environment. I have been assigned to teach our students online for the entire year. While I am very excited about this opportunity as it will provide stability for these students for the entire year, I need some help. I will miss the in-person interaction with my students, but I want to bridge that gap by preparing a welcoming environment that makes students feel as though they are still in the classroom with me. The relationships between students and teachers are so important for learning, especially when shifting to an online experience from in-person learning.
My goal is to make this year seem as much like they are actually in a classroom with me as possible. I will be turning my guest room into a makeshift classroom so while I am teaching live it makes my students feel like they are with me and builds that positive learning environment. My students would benefit from having whiteboards to walk them through examples as I interact with them and would benefit from the ring light/i-Pad holder so that I might effectively stream my lessons to them.
While this is going to be an interesting shift for many of us, I am excited to continue to foster the growth and learning of each of my students. I want to be able to sit at a "desk" and easily stream live to a student for a one-on-one session to clarify content. I want to be able to draw out ideas and brainstorm with my students using a whiteboard as I would in a traditional classroom. Overall, I wish to make this transition as easy as possible for the students I will be teaching. Thank you for your time in considering aiding in that goal.
