When a student is told to read independently, there is always a mixture of emotions. I have learned over the years that students who are excited about reading have found books that interest them and who also have a hard time putting them away. As an avid reader, I love seeing my students yearn to pick out a book that they know will bring enjoyment to their day.
Students who have an opportunity to choose books on their level, that also excites them to read, are more engaged during our independent reading time. They find themselves escaping into a world of imagination and wonder that can sometimes only be found in a book. This classroom library will continue to enhance readers' minds and encourage them to read not only to learn, but for the joy that books can bring!
About my class
