I am the school librarian at the BEST rural school in Virginia! After teaching 5th grade for 21 years, I made the jump to being a librarian so that I could help all of the students in my school learn to LOVE reading!!!! I currently have about 270 students in grades PreK-5 that I see every week and in that time together, we explore a variety of books: fiction, nonfiction, drama, poetry, etc. I love when they enter the library asking me, "What book are we going to read today, Mrs. Appleton?" or when they tell me that they didn't like books until they discovered the library! YAY! I thoroughly enjoy my job because I love my students and I absolutely LOVE seeing them discover and fall in love with literature! What a magical moment it is to see them transform into students who CRAVE books and love discussing books with me as well as their peers!
