Our classes are made up of students who are sweet, kind, social and learning how to be a student. Our classes are diverse both ethnically and racially. However, they are not as diverse economically. Our school is an inner city, title one school where over 90% of our students are from economically disadvantaged homes.
Our two kindergarten classes each house about 27 students. I am responsible for teaching language arts to over 50 Kindergarten students.
Many are learning how to be successful in school and thrive in the safe structure of a classroom. Many students came to kindergarten with no knowledge of letters, writing or printed text. They continue to grow more and more each day.
My students desire to engage in learning in a variety of ways however their desire for working with technology often goes unmet as technology is a limited resource in our classroom.
