I have been teaching for 12 years and it’s safe to say I’m in it for the long haul! I am committed to furthering the lives of the students in my class in any way I can. And in today’s society, more than ever, students are at the forefront of advances in technology. Being a 5th grade math and science teacher, I feel responsible for helping my students to build a strong math and science foundation rooted in technology. With a MacBook Pro, I can plan (create lessons) to enhance student learning via virtual labs, virtual math manipulatives, inquiry programs, etc. And most of all, being able to sync with other apple products (iPads) to give this technological experience to more students. Students will be able to interact directly with their MacBook several times a week, as it would be a permanent math/science station (depending on the topic in need of review).
Students would work in groups to complete digital lessons supported by our county adopted math program as well as Apple apps that support our standards we are currently learning in either math or science. With advances in STEM, (science, technology, engineering, and math) I want my students to know how to navigate this virtual world with confidence, while building memorable experiences collaborating in inquiry style learning with their peers.
