I teach 7th grade Science to 150 students in a school with 70% free or reduced lunch. I firmly believe that science is best taught doing hands-on labs. This way students have experience with the concepts and have a sense of ownership concerning the units taught.
My classroom is a very safe but fun hands-on environment. I do a lab or other hands on activity at least once a week. At the very beginning of the year, I even had students create their own name tags using shaving cream and food dye as a fascinating phenomenon as part of my introduction to chemistry! Science and fun mix very well in my classroom.
Due to all the labs we conduct and variety of needs each student requires to be successful, there are supplies and technology items that I cannot afford to buy on my own. If you decide to donate to my classroom, you will be helping educate and change lives of our future citizens!
