My students are Title I low income students. 90% of our population is Hispanic. My classroom is comprised of 17 Bilingual Education English Language Learners.
I can't say enough of my kids. They are so awesome, have such a thirst for learning that I haven't seen in other students and schools. My biggest problem in my classroom is my students all wanting to answer questions at the same time. We have a lot of fun in our class and learn a lot at the same time. My students love being able to come to the floor and in front of the classroom, they think its so cool to be able to sit on the floor with the teacher. I love that 3rd graders don't think they're too old to sit and learn! I take time each day to have them sit on the floor and read; when I forget they definitely let me know it! My kids speak 100% in English but I give them some instruction in Spanish just to make sure they grasp the concept I'm teaching. They're so amazing to have learned two languages by the age of 8!
