19 active, inquisitive first grade students come through my door each day ready to learn. They are busy, creative and thrive from hands-on experiences. They love to read and learn! The students have different learning styles and needs. Students are on various levels in the classroom. Hence, why creative opportunities for instruction work best to maximize their learning. The students are engaged in learning opportunities through morning meeting, guided reading groups, writing workshop, literacy centers, free choice centers, math, science and social studies units of study.
My school is a magnet arts school that provides special area opportunities each day in music, art dance, and drama. I would like to extend that learning in my classroom and integrate the arts through our science standards for first grade.
