The students in my class are eager, enthusiastic, and empathetic. They willingly support one another without prompting or directive. It's obvious to SEE this description when one student helps another write down their homework, when a lunch box is carried to a friend, or when a friend helps another practice math facts.
Of course there are times of frustration and/or life hurdles. The pressures of curriculum, meeting the standard, and outside circumstances affect all teachers and kids. BUT in THIS CLASS minds are rejuvenated with a song or a dance. In THIS CLASS students truly care for one another and go out of their way to persevere.
My class consists of 19 students. Of the 19, six students are English learners and three receive speech and/or resource services. Parents sign a daily agenda to stay informed. Forty-five percent of the parents are connected on a behavioral management tool called Class Dojo.
