The materials that I am asking for will benefit my students' learning in so many ways. Comfy benches, colorful seats for small groups, and chairs that allow them to move around a bit will give students a newfound excitement in reading a novel or working out a challenging math equation. I remember saving up "coins" when I was in elementary school to sit in the teacher's chair for a day and how excited to learn I was that day because it made me feel special. Many students I have in my classroom need positive reinforcement and encouragement to be engaged in learning.
The best way to keep my students engaged is to give them the opportunity to be comfortable while learning. This can be done by using this flexible seating as a reward for students who are staying on task or by using it to give students something to look forward to when it is time to independently read or be in small groups.
