A quiet, comfortable, space to enjoy a good book! Sprawled on a rug working together with friends! Most of my students have never experienced these and I want them to.
My students are reading at 2 or more reading levels below grade, and I want to create space in my room where they can explore books. Better readers make better spellers, better learners. My goal is to have a class full of avid readers. Creating a classroom environment that encourages reading and allows students to enjoy the experience is the goal of this project. I slot 20 minutes each day for quiet reading. What I need is a welcoming rug for my classroom. A colorful rug brightens the room. Most of my lessons start with a few minutes on the rug before students disperse to work in groups. So a good rug has many uses in my room, but most importantly I hope to make it a go-to place for working and learning.
We hope to enjoy watching movies or videos on a comfy rug too!
