With so many students in grades four through eight opting into my instrumental music program, and ninety-nine percent using school instruments, having a repair kit in house would greatly reduce the amount of instruments sent out for repair. With dwindling school budgets, this is more important than ever for me to keep all of my students playing. When instruments are sent out for repair, it is a minimum of a week turn around, usually more. Students miss so much in that time. If I am able to fix the instrument in house, there is no down time and my students keep playing.
The concert xylophone is a necessity, as we do not have one and use small, drum kit bell sets to cover those parts for rehearsals and concerts. There will be several percussion students utilizing this instrument on a weekly basis.
Having the tools to help and keep the most amount of students playing is my goal.
