Presently, I teach English Language Arts and Social Studies to Second Language Learners. I have two different classes with approximately 23 students in each classroom. Our school has seen an increase in the number of students who fled their beloved Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, we do not have all the resources to adequately support their immediate needs. Our school receives Title I funding and the entire school is eligible for free breakfast and lunch. The students come to school eager to learn and are from various living situations. Such situations include single parents, foster homes, homeless shelters, or extended family living. I am dedicated to meeting their needs daily, along with building their self-esteem and confidence.
