My students are in grades first through fifth. That is approximately 800 students that share the same art supplies, art room and art teacher! They are bright, creative children who are grateful for the opportunity to have art once a week, though most would like it every day. We have a limited amount of supplies, usually just the basics, but the students manage to create wonderful examples of the talent they have inside them!
My students and I are part of a very small school district and with that comes very small art supply budgets. The majority of the students come from low to below average family incomes. We don't let those concerns get in our way! We learn and have fun with what we have. We experiment and get creative with our supplies. After all isn't that what being an artist is sometimes all about?
