By donating to this project you will allow my kids to experience the travels of fantasy, fiction, and realistic text by CD and cassette. My kids are learning to identify genres in literature as well as characters, setting, and key details. This listening center will allow kids to listen to stories independently. The ability to chose which books they can listen to, as often as they like will build a love for reading! I have so many books on cassette that have not been touched in years, this CD/cassette combo will give my kids access to those books without having to buy additional CDs. The kiddos will be able to listen to music by Dr. Jean, Raffi, and Greg and Steve as well. These artists have music about letter sounds, counting, word building, and following directions. The "Sing to Learn" CD has an amazing song about letter sounds. I plan to use this CD with the whole class as well as in the listening center to help kids work on mastering all 26 letter sounds. I plan to use the pillows in the listening library so the kids can lie down or sit while enjoying the music and books. My goal is to make the listening center an inviting, comfortable spot so the kids can relax as they learn. Music and reading are two of the most powerful learning tools for young kinders. The items I selected will become a center where my kinders will have access to both music and literature to build their reading muscles. I am so excited to see this listening center come to life!
