Providing students with literature they select, excites them! When students are excited about what they are reading, they read more. When they read more, they learn more!
I want to provide as much student-selected literature as I possibly can. Research has proven that students who can choose what they want to read, will read more often. The more choices I can provide, the more often students will pick up a book.
As students grow as readers, they improve their skills in every subject area, increasing their capacity to better themselves not just in reading, but in science, math, foreign languages, and history.
