I wish to provide my students a Hunger Games unit that will raise their interest and engagement with reading. I don't want to hear the phrase, "I don't like reading" anymore, because there are so many wonderfully engaging books that exist in the world. I want to give them access to a memorable text they can't put down.
With these books, I want to create an interactive unit in which students can be a part of a Hunger Games district, find parallels with current events, explore the idea of star-crossed lovers, and become involved with a book that they can't put down! This has been a requested book from my personal library many times, and it is usually on the waiting list. Instead of making students wait for a book, it would be such an honor to explore the relevancy of it in our classroom.
