My school is located in an urban school district. Many of my students are in situations were they do not own books or have many opportunities to always go to the library. My fantastic fourth graders are hungry to always learn more. They get upset when they have to put a textbook away, and will ask to bring it home to read our current story or topic some more. Some of them are beginning to see that school is getting more intense as this is a big exam year, but learning is more about what skills and tools they need for life and school, not just to take a test.
