I teach 2nd Grade at high poverty elementary school. My school has 93% socioeconomically disadvantaged students and 68% English Language Learners.
I would like to turn my classroom into a place where my students would not just learn to be good readers, but they would learn to love reading, too. Though most of my students come from loving and supportive families, they have few resources at home to help them academically. They are wonderful children, most of whom are very eager to learn. They just need more opportunities to experience the world around them through reading.
