Aside from giving my students access to the books for classroom use, they are also allowed to take them home for extra reading time. The more time they read, the quicker they'll improve their skills. Most of my student in class are struggling readers who are reading at least two grade levels below. I want them to be able pick a book and have the ability to switch anytime to match their independent and/or instructional reading level. This will give them the confidence they need by providing them the freedom to choose the book they like.
