My needed materials vary a lot in what they are, but all have the same common output of helping my students be successful in the classroom. The variety of tools and seating will engage these students to want to spend more time writing and practicing different skills to further their knowledge. I believe that this little bit of flexible seating, such as the Soft Seats, will push my students to want to be working around the classroom in whatever subject area- although, I plan to use for silent reading. Also, for reading, I would like to encourage the students to have "Flashlight Fridays", where they get to read to a friend with the lights off and flashlight on! For the short amount of time I have been in this classroom, I have seen the innovative side of each student. Therefore, I am asking for different writing utensils, like the Marker Set and Pencil Set, so that my students can have a choice in what they want to write and create their stories with. A few of my other needed items include Dice and Pop games for literacy activities. this will further my first-grade students' knowledge in building words and fluent reading.
