My students are bilingual and this is their first year where they transition to English. Our Sanchez Eagles are always excited about learning about everything around their environment and world. They try their hardest everyday and are responsible for their learning and work. In despite of the tragic floods of Harvey, they still coming in with a good attitude but some it still difficult. The fact that they are not in their home and living in a hotel. I tell them to be patient that after a big storm there is always light and everything will fall into place. I am glad that my classroom is a safe zone and they know what to expect. There is no guessing, no surprise, and that it is positive. I always give them positive feedback, encouragement, and that readers are leaders. This is a unique year but a special one too where we have seen compassion, perseverance, and resiliency in our community, city, and our state.
