I like it when my teacher lets me play with stuff, then my brain can really think big thoughts." JPC age 5
My Project: I am hoping to turn a busy and bright space into a calm neutral space perfectly suited for busy and bright learners. I feel the calm classroom environment is essential for these urban students who are constantly in the hustle and bustle of city life, or for those students with brains that are full of distracting hustle and bustle. One of the main learning areas in our classroom I'd like to utilize to the fullest as an exciting learning area is the floor. In order to make this happen I would love a neutral colored rug, that allows the learning materials and the students' thinking to stand out as opposed to the decor of the rug.
The end goal is to create a safe, warm learning environment open to exploration of materials that lead to inquiry and understanding.
