My students are active, intelligent,enthusiastic second graders. They love to learn, and explore. Some struggle academically, and some are second language learners who need lots of visual examples and visual directions to help them in their efforts to be successful. My class loves math! They jockey for an opportunity to share their math thinking. It is difficult and time consuming to try to have them share using the white board. A document camera allows my students to be the instructor as they explain their reasoning. Science success relies on students being able to interact with specimens that are delicate like butterfly chrysalis and sprouted seeds. Seeing nature up close is what motivates students to explore. My students need visual access to some things they can't touch, and visual access to things so they learn how to handle them in a science experience.
