My lessons are comprised of a series of introspective projects in which my middle school students will learn to understand their world by delving deeply into concepts such as "the self" while at the same time collaborating with others, giving and receiving peer feedback. They will become artists in training by learning all the myriad ways of self expression, employing all kinds of materials and methods, and invoking all kinds of artistic styles. As they take on the assigned projects, they will understand that the "self" cannot survive living in a vacuum, as we are all inextricably connected to each other.
