Every student wants to fall in love with a good book and let their imaginations run wild across the pages. Reading is the number one thing any person can do to increase their knowledge and I want to encourage that in my students every year. Creating an inviting reading space where my students can get comfortable and settle in with their book during reader's workshop will benefit their ability to get into their reading zone.
The creative carpet and comfy bean bags, under the big classroom windows that catch the morning sun, will entice students to have a seat and read more.
The few books requested are some popular, high interest, novels that will provide additional incentive for students to visit the classroom library and become a part of our "Books We Love" feature shelf. Because I already have a classroom library of about 200 books, I want to update the shelves with books that students are interested in and have requested to see on the shelves.
