"We want to practice more!" These words are not uncommon during our resource time together each day. Using color, academic art, and an inclusive learning environment gives my young students the chance to become engaged learners that believe they can grow their skills each session. Rewarding behaviors provides numerous opportunities to build strong relationships that allow for students to risk learning the "tough stuff". All my students want to show what they know during class.
Therefore, playing games with an academic theme allows me to give specific and immediate feedback that helps my students close their academic and ELL gaps. On any given day we invite our school community to join us in reading, math, and writing while finding our smile as we succeed in unique ways to practice the skills needed to be successful learners. YES! We love UNO math! Please consider funding these good tools needed in our resource room.
