The students in my Reading class are reading at very diverse levels. We read aloud in class and with a partner, but I have found my students struggling while sounding words out. We listen to stories online so the kids can hear more words being said and increasing their own vocabulary. The headphones purchased through this project will allow all of my students the ability to increase their fluency and vocabulary through listening to more stories online. The headphones will also enable my students to play games online that build vocabulary and reading comprehension skills.
Building vocabulary begins with listening to the words and hearing how they are used in context. The headphones will allow my students to listen to words they don't know. This will help the English Language learners as well as the students who struggle to gain meaning from unknown words.
