By having move diverse books added to our classroom library, my students will have more choices of books that represent the faces they see in the mirror and around them.
We live in a diverse world that should be valued and celebrated. What better way to do that than through a classroom library?
I can't wait to use these books in our classroom (in-person or virtually)! I plan to highlight the books via regular book talks. I want my students to know that we have books that can help them to see themselves as important and worthy of great things. I also am excited for the kids to get hooked on these books and to share what they've read with each other and me. My hope is that by having more diverse books, we will be able to build a classroom community that recognizes, values, and appreciates ALL people.
