The ultimate melting pot!
Our classroom has kids who are form Jacksonville, others who moved from a different sate, some that are completely new to the country; they come from south America, central America, Ukraine, Russia, African countries, Arab countries, etc.
Their socioeconomic status is more on the lower income, most work after school.
All of them have experience school elsewhere and had to endure social situations that comes along with living in a lower income area.
The majority are Hispanic or have Hispanic heritage, some don't speak English yet, some have parents who don't speak English. Some kids don't know anything about their heritage or speak Spanish. Some speak fluently but never wrote it.....
An there I am, their Spanish teacher...born and raised Hispanic, with a social worker degree and a masters in education, serving my kids with my all my heart.
