Students need to take a break from technology and more time to develop fine motor skills, collaboration, and problem solving skills. Students will build fine motor strength as they build to show learning of concepts. Through the construction process, they will work with partners to increase communication and problem solving skills. These items will be paired with concepts we are learning. Students will have time to explore, build, and show their learning by constructing a project to present. My students need Legos, Creative Kids Brain Flakes, Geoboards, Magnetic Building Blocks Velcro Fasteners, Jumbo Sticks and Rubber Bands to help them learn how to collaborate as a team and work on problem solving skills. My students are very creative but do not have enough materials to show their creativity in learning. Students will have opportunities to show their learning using various materials. My students have varying abilities and interests. This would provide students with opportunities to build on their knowledge while tapping into their interests at the same time. Legos, Magnetic Building Blocks, and Brain Flakes will be used for students to measure, explore perimeter & area, and other areas of the curriculum. My hope is that students will be able to have more hands on experiences and more options in the learning process. Not all students learn by reading or listening to discussion. Students need opportunities to practice and problem solve with their peers.
