My students are third graders in a dual-language program. They are predominately English language learners in an urban, high needs community. They have lots of stories to tell and have recently been inspired to write, write, and write through Writer's Workshop. They absorb all the teaching points from the mini-lessons and are ready to get to work. They work well when selecting a special spot around the classroom, but are usually limited because of the uncomfortable, cold floor and the hard classroom chairs.
